Guided by a mission to put God’s love into practice, Habitat for Humanity unites individuals to build homes, strengthen communities, and inspire hope. Our commitment is to eradicate substandard housing both locally and globally by constructing, rehabilitating, and preserving homes; advocating for just housing policies; and providing resources and training to help families improve their living conditions. We welcome everyone who believes that every person deserves a decent, affordable home to join our mission, regardless of race, religion, gender, age, political affiliation, or any other distinction. Habitat invites volunteers, supporters, and future homeowners from all backgrounds to participate. Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliates adhere to a strict policy against proselytizing. Assistance is provided without any conditions related to faith adherence, conversion, or exposure to religious messaging. Home construction is a collaborative process between volunteers and homebuyers, with partner families contributing 500 hours of “sweat equity” toward the building of their own homes and those of others. Habitat homes are sold at cost, with a non-interest mortgage, repaid over a 30 to 45-year period. These payments are recycled to build additional homes for those in need.
