Habitat for Humanity San Diego - Restore Escondido
Motivated by the mission to express God’s love through action, Habitat for Humanity brings together people to build homes, strengthen communities, and create hope. We are committed to eliminating substandard housing both locally and globally by constructing, rehabilitating, and preserving homes; advocating for fair housing policies; and providing resources and training to help families improve their shelter conditions.
We welcome all who believe in the right to a decent, affordable home to join our efforts, regardless of race, religion, gender, age, political beliefs, or any other distinctions that often divide people. Habitat is open to volunteers, supporters, and future homeowners from diverse backgrounds.
Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliates adhere to a strict policy against proselytizing. Assistance is provided without any expectation of adherence to, conversion to, or exposure to religious messages.
Home construction is a cooperative venture between volunteers and homebuyers, with Habitat partner families contributing 500 hours of “sweat equity” towards the building of their own homes and those of others.
Habitat homes are sold at cost, with a no-interest mortgage, repaid over 30 to 45 years. These payments are then used to fund the construction of more homes for those in need.
