Guided by the mission to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, strengthen communities, and nurture hope. We believe that everyone has the right to a decent, affordable home, and we welcome individuals of all races, religions, genders, and political views to join us. Habitat is open to volunteers, supporters, and future homeowners from all walks of life. Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliates have a firm policy against proselytizing. Assistance is provided without any requirement for adherence to, conversion to, or exposure to religious messaging. Homebuilding is a joint effort between volunteers and future homeowners, with families contributing 500 hours of “sweat equity” toward their own homes and those of others. Habitat homes are sold at cost, with a non-interest mortgage, repaid over 30 to 45 years. These payments are then used to build additional homes for those in need. Habitat houses are sold for no profit, with a non-interest mortgage, repaid over a 30 to 45 year period. House payments are recycled to build more homes for those in need.
