Driven by a desire to manifest God’s love, Habitat for Humanity unites people to build homes, create communities, and bring hope. We believe that everyone deserves a decent, affordable place to live, and we welcome individuals of all backgrounds to join us, regardless of race, religion, gender, or political beliefs. Habitat embraces volunteers, supporters, and future homeowners from all walks of life. Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliates do not proselytize, meaning we provide assistance with no expectation of adherence to, conversion to, or even exposure to religious messaging. Homebuilding is a collaborative effort between volunteers and homebuyers, with families contributing 500 hours of “sweat equity” toward the construction of their own homes and those of others. Habitat homes are sold at cost, with a no-interest mortgage, repaid over 30 to 45 years. These payments are reinvested to help build more homes for those in need.
