Habitat for Humanity, inspired by the desire to live out God’s love, brings together people to build homes, create communities, and instill hope. We believe that everyone deserves a decent, affordable place to live, and welcome those who share this belief to join us, regardless of race, religion, age, or political beliefs. Habitat embraces volunteers, supporters, and future homeowners from all walks of life. As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliates do not proselytize. Assistance is provided without any expectation of adherence to, conversion to, or exposure to religious messaging. The construction process is a cooperative effort between volunteers and homebuyers, who contribute 500 hours of “sweat equity” toward their home and the homes of others. Habitat homes are sold at cost with a non-interest mortgage, repaid over 30 to 45 years. These payments are then used to build more homes for those in need.
